I am not an Anglophile, except for my weird obsession with the Tudors. Seriously, it's an odd obsession. Yet, I am extraordinarily indifferent to the ins and outs of the modern English monarchy.
But some of you have asked me to look into Kate Middleton. Because I am a curious person and a sucker for an exciting story, especially when it includes speculation of true crime and scandal, I figured why not. So, let's explore the curious case of Katie Middleton, the missing Princess of Wales.
Before we proceed, let me state that I have no skin in this situation. What I know about the royal family is what I can garner from scrolling social media. But the rumors swirling around Kate are wild and plentiful, especially on TikTok. Let's go through them and debunk all of them.
But first, let me set a timeline.

December 22, 2023 | Possible Italy trip reported - The DailyMail reports talks are underway, and a date has been 'penciled in' for William and Kat to visit Italy, maybe visit with Pope Francis.
December 25 | Christmas Day - The royal family attends the Christmas Day service at Sandringham Church. This is the last public sitting of Kate Middleton and her children.
December 28 | Ambulance sited leaving Sandringham - Late at night, a convoy escorted by police is seen leaving Sandringham, where the royal family was spending Christmas, towards King Edward VII's Hospital. The royals have not issued a statement about the convoy or confirmed where it was heading

January 17, 2024 | Kate was admitted to London hospital - Kate was admitted to a private London hospital for "planned abdominal surgery." The surgery was described as successful. The royals made no statement on the diagnosis, saying Kate wishes to keep it private. All engagements are canceled until after Easter.
January 18 | William visits Kate - This is the first and last time he is known to visit Kate while she recovers.
Kate will stay in the clinic for two weeks to recover. No family, including William and the children, are reported to have visited.
January 24 | Friends' shocked' - UK papers report that friends of Kate express shock over to hear Kate had to undergo surgery and they were unaware of any health issues.
January 26 | The King visits Kate - Charles visits Kate in the hospital, but her children, parents, and family have not been known to visit.
January 28 | Spanish reporter says Kate is in a coma - Concha Calleja claims Kate is in an induced coma following her surgery, citing unnamed palace sources.
January 29 | Kate is discharged - Kensington Palace announces Kate has been discharged and is recovering at home. No photos were released of her discharge.
February 1 | Palace furious about coma claims - The Times reports that "Palace officials are understood to be furious" over Calleja's claims that Kate is in a coma.
February 5 | The King has cancer - The Palace announces that King Charles is fighting cancer but does not say what kind of cancer and how serious it is.
February 5 | Kate’s 9-month recovery - OK magazine reports that a medical expert says Kate's recovery could take up to nine months instead of three.
February 7 | Harry visits Charles - Harry flies into London to visit his father and returns to the U.S. the next day. The visit lasts 45 minutes. William does not visit Charles and makes no statement about his father's health.
February 9 | Kate on the mend - Reports emerge that Kate is on the mend and left Windsor to join William and their children in Sandringham to continue her recovery.
February 25 | Royal family tragedy - Thomas Kingston, husband to Lady Gabriella Windsor, dies from an apparent suicide.
February 27 | William cancels appearance - William cancels his appearance and reading at his godfather's memorial service at the last minute, citing personal reasons. The Palace also says in the statement that Kate is doing well. Royal experts say that such a last-minute cancelation is concerning.
February 28 | #WhereisKateMiddleton - It has been nine weeks since Kate and her children have been seen. The hashtag "#WhereisKateMiddleton" began trending on social media.
February 29 | Kensington addresses rumors - Kensington Palace released a statement reiterating the timeline of Kate's recovery, stating that they will only provide significant updates and that the princess was doing well.
March 4 | First sighting of Kate - A photo of Kate emerges of her in the passenger seat of a car with her mother.
March 10 | Kate releases "The Photo" - Royal account posts a picture of Kate with her children for Mother's Day, celebrated on the second Sunday of March in the UK.
The internet quickly notices that the image is edited. Publications outlets also notice and issue a kill notice on the image because the source was modified.
