ποΈ #060 | Immigrant Employment Surges Under Biden, Natural-Born Americans Lag
All of the above the fold π° stories of the week to keep you in the know
Itβs FRIDAY, June 14!
You might be surprised to learn that I donβt follow the news constantly. I actually have other interests. Since it's summer, Iβm focused on my tomato beds, practicing foraging for medicinal plants, and always true crime.
My current true crime obsession is the trial of Karen Reed. If youβre a true crime enthusiast and not familiar with it, I highly recommend checking it out.
To break it down quickly for you, on the morning of January 29, 2022, John O'Keefe's body was found in the snow in front of the home of fellow police officer Brian Albert. The night before, he had gone to a bar with his girlfriend, Karen Read, as well as some friends and acquaintances, including Brian. Not long after, Karen was charged with John's murder, but her defense alleges that she is being framed by the group of people who met up at Brian's home after the bar closed and have close ties to local law enforcement.
While I leisurely prune my tomatoes or identify wild plants, I listen to true crime.
But letβs get into the news.

π Feature Story: Immigrant Employment Surges Under Biden, Natural-Born Americans Lagπ
A recent report from the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) highlights a significant shift in job distribution, revealing that since 2019, the majority of new jobs have gone to immigrants rather than natural-born Americans. Despite a New York Times article praising a historically strong job market, many voters remain dissatisfied with President Biden's economic policies. The report points to a substantial decline in labor force participation among U.S.-born men, especially those with lower education levels. Additionally, the surge in illegal immigration and policy changes under the Biden administration have further complicated the employment landscape, raising concerns about the long-term impact on American workersβa factor the NY Times article overlooks.

The shooter, who identified as transgender, expressed profound struggles with gender dysphoria and anger towards societal norms and Christianity. Her writings reveal a life marked by frustration with her upbringing and a deep-seated disdain for her assigned gender, highlighting a desperate desire for gender-affirming treatments. The journal's release has sparked calls for greater transparency from authorities to fully understand the motives behind such tragedies
ππ¨ Biden-Linked NGO Labels Americans as 'Trumpists and Communists,' Sparking GOP Backlash. A Biden-linked Ukrainian NGO, TEXTY.org.ua, has sparked controversy by labeling Americans opposing more U.S. aid to Ukraine as "Trumpists and Communists." This move has drawn sharp criticism from Republican lawmakers, who are demanding transparency from the U.S. State Department about its connections and funding to the NGO. The list, which includes prominent figures like Tim Pool, Jack Posobiec, Donald Trump Jr., Tucker Carlson, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and various media personalities, has raised concerns about political targeting and censorship.
πΊπ¦π¨ Endless War? U.S. Pledges Decade-Long Support to Ukraine Amidst Political Uncertainty. President Biden and Ukrainian President Zelensky have signed a 10-year security deal, deepening U.S. involvement in Ukraineβs ongoing conflict. Announced at the G7 summit in Italy, this agreement includes increased military assistance and a $50 billion loan for Ukraine, funded by Russian assets. Despite these significant commitments, there is growing concern over the lack of a clear plan to end the war, raising questions about the long-term implications for the U.S. and its allies.
πΌπΊπΈ House GOP Votes to Hold Merrick Garland in Contempt Over Withheld Biden Interview Audio. House Republicans narrowly voted to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress over his refusal to release audio recordings of President Bidenβs interview with special counsel Robert Hur. The GOP, concerned about the accuracy of the provided transcripts, views the tapes as crucial to their impeachment inquiry, suspecting potential edits that could misrepresent Bidenβs statements. Meanwhile, the Department of Justice cites executive privilege for withholding the recordings, intensifying the political clash over transparency and classified information. Democrats dismiss the contempt vote as a partisan stunt aimed at embarrassing Biden.
βοΈπ Supreme Court Ruling: A Setback for Anti-Abortion Advocates. The Supreme Court recently ruled unanimously to uphold access to the abortion pill mifepristone, supporting the Biden administration and the FDA's authority. This decision ensures the continued availability of the pill for medication abortions up to the 10th week of pregnancy, despite efforts by anti-abortion groups to restrict its use. While the ruling represents a setback for these groups, it highlights the ongoing and complex battle over abortion rights in the United States. This decision reaffirms the FDA's regulatory power and sets the stage for future legal confrontations in the reproductive rights arena.
